Oud-strijders herdenken de bevrijding in september 1999
In 1999 vond een herdenking plaats waarbij Schotse oud-strijders en bevrijde Beerzenaren in het Oude Kerkje tezamen waren gekomen.
Dear Friends
And I said "dear friends" as surely many other people did the last few days and many years before. You and me were friends for life, because you made a very important part of our history, namely our liberty.
And it's therefore that I am happy, for the first time that we don't have a museum. That gives us the opportunity to be your host for a while and to receive the present you want to give to the community of Oost- West and Middelbeers. Us as the foundation which is controlling this monument, this building.
We were very grateful that you would be our guests today and for your presence. In return I want to give you a small memory, a picture of this church, which also was important for you.
I thank you very much and hope to meet you here next time again.
